Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

BAM.memorial is run by the Gordon L. Diewert Foundation, a Canadian registered charity. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect, where it is kept, and what we do and do not do with it.

The short version. We collect only what you type into a form on this site. We do not sell it, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site. If you want your information removed, email operations@cocendo.com and we will delete it.

Memorial submissions

If you submit a memorial, we collect your name, your email address, the name of the person you are remembering, the cause area you choose, and what you write about them.

These submissions are stored on our own server, outside the public website, in a file only our administrators can read. A copy of each submission is emailed to the Foundation so a person can read it and reply to you. We use Resend to send that email, so the contents of your submission pass through their service.

We keep submissions for as long as the memorial programme runs, because they are the record of who has been remembered. Nothing you submit is published on this site unless you and we have agreed on it first.

Newsletter signups

If you join the mailing list, we store your email address, the date, and the wording of the consent you agreed to. We keep the consent wording because Canadian anti-spam law requires us to be able to show that you asked to hear from us.

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes you from the list and we will not add you back from any other source.

Donations

Donations are not taken on this site. The donate page sends you to the Foundation's own donation page at diewert.org/donate/, where the payment is handled by the Foundation's payment processor. BAM.memorial never sees or stores your card details.

What we do not do

Server logs and fonts

Our web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. Forms on this site are rate limited to stop abuse; that check uses a one-way hash of your IP address held in memory only, and the address itself is never written to disk by it.

Typefaces are loaded from fonts.bunny.net, a privacy-focused font service that does not log visitor IP addresses, which is why we use it rather than Google Fonts.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email operations@cocendo.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
